"A friend of mine said you can't write a good poem with Waffle House in it. And I was like, 'I'm totally going to write a good poem with Waffle House in it.'" -- Erika Meitner at the 2011 Blue Light Reading Series.

I’m pleased to feature a live recording of poet Erika Meitner from this year’s Blue Light Reading Series sponsored by Indiana Review.

Erika Meitner is the author of three books of poetry, including most recently Makeshift Instructions for Vigilant Girls. Meitner’s poems have appeared recently in American Poetry Review, Virginia Quarterly Review, Indiana Review, The New Republic, and on Slate.com. She teaches in the MFA program at Virginia Tech.
