"Years ago when I became tough as a nail, / I became a nail." from Braided Creek by Jim Harrison & Ted Kooser.

Braided Creek: A Conversation in Poetry by Jim Harrison & Ted Kooser is a unique and wonderful book composed of unattributed, haiku-like, often hilarious, poems which the longtime friends exchanged through the mail while Kooser was undergoing treatment for cancer.

Ted Kooser, author of ten collections of poetry, including Delights and Shadows which won the Pulitzer prize in 2005, was U.S. Poet Laureate from 2004-2006.

Jim Harrison has published more than a dozen collections of poetry and more than sixteen novels and novella collections, including Dalva and Legends of the Fall, which have made him one of the foremost fiction writers in America.
