Singer Anita Gravine's LIGHTS! CAMERA! PASSION! ENGLISH VOCAL VERSIONS OF THE GREAT ITALIAN CINEMA features music from the films of Fellini and other masters of Italian cinema

Singer Anita Gravine started out in the mid-1960s with the bands of Larry Elgart and Urbie Green. She got hooked on Italian cinema growing up in New York City, where her sister worked the box-office at the Eighth Street Playhouse, which specialized in screening foreign films.

In 1998 she put out a CD called LIGHTS! CAMERA! PASSION! ENGLISH VOCAL VERSIONS OF THE GREAT ITALIAN CINEMA that features music from the films of Fellini and other masters of Italian cinema.

Baritone saxophonist Gerry Mulligan had a long and successful career that stretched from the late 1940s and the end of the big-band era, when he worked as an arranger for Claude Thornhill and others and helped shape Miles Davis’ influential BIRTH OF THE COOL sessions, up until the time of his death in 1996.

We’ll hear selections from The Art of Gerry Mulligan, an anthology of highlights from his final studio sides made for the TelArc label.
