The classic tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons is enjoying a surge in popularity right now. It’s more profitable than ever (8.6 million players in 2017), and live-play series like Critical Role and The Adventure Zone have become fandom juggernauts.
It’s no secret, then, that more people are coming to the game for the first time than ever. And while plenty of them are reaching for a blank character sheet, many want to take a crack at playing the role of Dungeon Master (“Game Master” outside the specifics of D&D).
On this episode of [Indi]android, we’ll talk with The Game Preserve Bloomington’s Auston Schrougham, a longtime dungeon master himself, about what you need to know to DM your first campaign, and how to do it well.
