Namesake Gifts For The Holidays

laura

I just ordered a gift of some daffodil bulbs for a friend who is a fan of Sir Winston Churchill. This variety of daffodil, ‘Winston Churchill', is a robust grower and ideal for naturalizing. It produces multiple double, white flowers that have orange touches, and they are long lasting and fragrant.

I also ordered Phlox ‘Laura', which is mildew resistant with purple flowers that have white eyes, for a gardening friend called Laura.

If you know someone who gardens called David, I recommend as a gift for him Phlox paniculata ‘David', a classic variety that is free flowering and vigorous.

There is also a handsome burgundy-red Dianthus called ‘Desmond', and a magenta perennial geranium with a maroon center called ‘Patricia', if those names are included on your gift-giving list.

I was going to give Lamium ‘White Nancy' to a friend, but then I remembered that the common name of Lamium is dead nettle, so I bought my Nancy a garden center gift card instead.

However, I highly recommend heirloom roses websites if you know a Beverly, Tiffany, Monica, Cynthia, or Violet, or if you need a wedding gift. Just order now and present a card that says delivery will occur next spring.

Namesake plant gifts are easy to send and are usually well received.
