Am I late jumping on the steel cut oats bandwagon? Probably. I usually lag behind.
I was kind of scared since they take so much time to make, but my strategy is to make the oats the night before and then reheat them in the morning.
The flavor of steel cuts has been described as nuttier than other types of oats; they are also chewier and have more texture -- not slimy like some other kinds.
Sometimes we add dried fruits or nuts, but steel cut oatmeal is delish just plain.
