Songs Of The Season: Autumn 2017

The leaves are changing from green to red, the air outside is brisk and cool, and that means it’s time to look at autumn songs from the Great American Songbook.

On this show: "Autumn Leaves," "Tis Autumn," "Autumn In New York," and other fall songs from the Great American Songbook.

On this program, it’s my annual salute to changing leaves, crisp fall air, and pumpkin spice with some “Songs of the Season” for autumn. Autumn songs from the Great American Songbook are generally ballads, with a tinge of regret and melancholy permeating the lyrics, as the carefree days of summer are blown away with the brisk fall breeze. This hour we’ll hear some favorite songs of the season, including “Autumn Leaves,” “Autumn in New York,” and “September in the Rain,” sung by Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Leon Redbone, and more.

The show was great. Are there any “bleak November” songs?
