This piece, along with a performance at a famous exhibition, made the name of its composer. It also helped establish him has one of the masters of this musical style. Sometimes, however, even establishing such a famous composer’s birthday can be difficult. Based on later recollections, we used to think that he had been born in November of a certain year, but census records show that he was actually born at some point in the six months prior to January of that same year…
