Web Services Specialist
Indiana University-Radio/Television Services, WTIU Public Television, and WFIU Public Radio serve south-central Indiana, producing a wide range of radio, television programs for local, state, and national distribution, as well as many non-broadcast productions for the university and community. This is a full-time, non-exempt, support staff position, eligible for overtime and all full-time IU staff benefits.
Works under the direction of the Director of Digital Media in order to implement and maintain software providing functionality for the Indiana Public Media, WFIU, and WTIU online presences. Consults with various department personnel to design, develop and implement online media and interactive information delivery systems; designs websites to maximize accessibility, usability, and effectiveness; and integrates database, plug-ins, and application software into website design.
Coordinates the maintenance and updating of existing web page designs, and monitors websites for consistency, cross-referencing, and compliance with university standards. Performs research, linking and posting of web information and delivery; and develops systems and procedures to track, analyze and report on website activity; recommends changes to systems and procedures based upon website analysis.
Examples of projects include: themes and plug-ins for the WordPress content management system, integration between ‘off-the-shelf’ software libraries, using application programming interfaces (APIs) to interact with third-party online services (YouTube, Facebook, Google Maps, etc.), and future platforms.
REQUIRED: Associate’s degree in computer science or closely-related field and two years of experience with web programming and markup languages/conventions, as well as database management.

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including a customer service orientation and ability to work well with a wide range of people. Strong organizational and time management skills including ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines; and demonstrated problem solving skills.
Previous experience with design libraries, frameworks, and preprocessors such as: adapt.js, Foundation Gumby, etc.; previous experience developing mobile applications (including native application development for the iOS and Android platforms); interest in, and commitment to, the core values of the public media services and missions of NPR and PBS.
$31,300 – $37,500, depending on the extent of relevant experience
