Noon Edition

Musician Booker T. Jones

I had access to the brass instruments [in my junior high school]: the trombone, the baritone horn, the tuba, and the saxophone. So after school, I could just walk in there, pick one up, and give myself a little lesson on it. . . . I guess I was obsessed with it.

Booker T. Jones attended Indiana University-Bloomington in the 1960s, where he studied classical music composition and transposition while playing with the Booker T. & the MGs on the weekends in Memphis.

Songs he has co-written include "I've Never Found a Girl (To Love Me Like You Do)" and "I Love You More Than Words Can Say."

Jones has worked in the studio with many well-known artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and received a Grammy Award for lifetime achievement.
