Noon Edition

Michael Barone, host of Pipedreams

Michael Barone (gray beard, dark blue dress shirt, tie) and Charles Webb (powder blue sweater over dress shirt and tie)

Over 2,000 years and more the organ has persisted. There is something about the ingenuity of its mechanism and the beauty and the variety of the power of its tone that keep people curious—and bring to the listener something that no other instrument can offer.

J. Michael Barone has been involved with the pipe organ for more than 50 years. He is recognized nationally for his contributions to the world of organ music.

Dr. Barone formerly served as host for broadcasts of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and for 25 years he served as classical music director for Minnesota Public Radio. He was a consultant to pipe organ installations at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and has served as a program consultant to the organ series at the Kimmel Center. He is an inductee of the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame.
