Opportunities And Issues For U.S. Veterans In Indiana

Several laws that went into effect this week aim to assist veterans in Indiana. One law gives veteran-owned small businesses preferences on state contracts. Another gives all veterans in-state tuition, no matter how long they've been in Indiana.

This week on Noon Edition, we'll talk with representatives from the state, college institutions, and veteran support groups to see what opportunities and issues veterans in Indiana face, and how that could change as more troops come home from tours overseas.

Summaries of recent laws affecting veterans:

  • SEA 564Â Veterans preference on state contracts
  • SEA 177 Tuition rates for veterans
  • HEA 1387 Local veterans' service officers
  • SEA 403 Disabled Hoosier veteran license plate

For more information and background check out IPBS reporter Brandon Smith's coverage on veteran tuition and state contracts, as well as, House Bill 102.
