Noon Edition airs on Fridays at noon on WFIU.

Co-founder of the Beaux Arts Trio, legendary pianist, and renowned professor at the Jacobs School of Music Menahem Pressler passed away at the age of 99 this past Saturday.

As a boy in Germany, Pressler faced difficult odds when the Nazi party took over the country. However, he managed to flee with some members of his family and eventually found his way to the U.S., where he won an international piano competition in 1946.

In 1955, Pressler became a member of the Indiana University faculty and joined forces with cellist Bernard Greenhouse and violinist Daniel Guilet to form the Beaux Arts Trio.
