G.M. Pulls Out of Montreal Jazz Festival

The New York Times is reporting that General Motors is withdrawing its sponsorship from the Montreal Jazz Festival, one of the North American continent's most acclaimed annual jazz celebrations. While the news, sadly, may not come as a surprise given the current state of the U.S. auto industry, it's the kind of story that may become more and more common as the economic crisis reverberates throughout the jazz world. The festival's president says they have a year and a half to find a new lead sponsor.
