Bloomington jazz vocalist Janiece Jaffe's death on November 23 at the age of 64 came as a shock to her numerous fans and friends in Indiana and beyond. After airing a tribute to her on Monday, November 28, I received a call from her daughter Julia Reardin, and our conversation led to her and her brother Jurion Jaffe stopping by my weekday afternoon jazz program Just You And Me to discuss their mother, her music, and what it was like growing up in a Janiece Jaffe household. We also played more recordings that their mother made, including a private-tape Beatles cover produced for Julia's birthday. You can listen to the entire program at the link above.
(A Celebration of Life will be held for Janiece Jaffe at One World at Woolery Mill in Bloomington on Sunday, December 11, beginning at 4 p.m.)
