The new OptumServe testing site in Monroe County opened Friday morning to test preregistered patients for COVID-19.
The hours of operation will be Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Fridays 8 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Monroe County Health Administrator Penny Caudill says the site will be closed this coming Monday for Memorial Day.
“On a personal note, I would’ve loved to been open on Memorial Day, but that was not our decision," Caudill says.
Caudill says OptumServe is in charge of the site’s operations.
The Indiana State Department of Health website shows the location of the site moved from downtown Bloomington to the National Guard armory south of town.
"We're not trying to hide the location. We just don't want people to think they can walk in and be served," Caudill says.
People experiencing COVID-19 symptoms can preregister to be tested at this site through the ISDH website.
