Music of the Renaissance with Trulla de Bozes and Doulce Mémoire

The 2002 Passacaille label recording of Renaissance Spanish consort songs is the finest I’ve ever come across. Entitled “Seville around 1560” the performance by Trulla de Bozes is memorable, to say the least, and gives a powerful account of works by Francisco Guerrero, Ginés de Morata, Juan Navarro, and others.

Doulce Mémoire probably needs no introduction, seeing as they’re one the premiere Renaissance instrumental ensembles in Europe today. Their 1995 Dorian label recording, “Renaissance Winds,” is just as the title implies and includes some of the 16th Century’s top ten hits, performed in the unique fashion the ensemble has come to recognized for.
