Christophe Rousset

Johann Jakob Froberger was one of the most prominent and widely traveled German composers during the 17th Century. He was also an exceptional improviser at the organ (an instrument for which he published collections of music).

French conductor and harpsichord virtuoso Christophe Rousset has released excerpts from Froberger’s suites performed on an original harpsichord built in 1652. His fine performance is notable for its beautiful sense of style and poise.

Webb Wiggins

Harpsichordist Webb Wiggins is one of America’s distinguished early keyboardists. His latest Smithsonian Friends of Music recording is not just a mere sampling of Froberger’s works, but a complete survey of the 1656 publication of toccatas, ricercars, capriccios, and suites.
