Earlier this spring, I had the chance to sit down and catch up with Bart Kuijken, artistic director of Indianapolis Baroque and virtuoso player of the baroque flute.
Kuijken was in Bloomington, Indiana, during February 2012 to judge a concerto competition sponsored by the Early Music Institute and the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra.
Our conversation ranges from Kuijken's role as artistic director of Indy Baroque, to his pursuit of a doctoral degree in music and his approach to music making. He also shares memories and thoughts about the late Gustav Leonhardt.
