The tragic stories of two famous Christian figures are at the center of oratorios by Stradella (San Giovanni Battista) and Alessandro Scarlatti (Il Martirio di Santa Cecilia). Alessandro de Marchi leads the Academia Montis Regalis in the Stradella while Scarlatti’s oratorio receives its premiere recording under Diego Fasolis and I Barocchisti.

Bernard Gordillo

Bernard Gordillo was born in Managua, Nicaragua, and raised in New Orleans. He holds degrees from Centenary College of Louisiana, the Early Music Institute at Indiana University, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London). Bernard also writes and hosts the Harmonia Early Music Podcast.
