Today on Artworks, we’re taking a look at the Artful Learning curriculum now in its third year at Fairview Elementary School in Bloomington. A program of the Leonard Bernstein Foundation, Artful Learning links arts and the artistic process to the daily classroom experience. Artworks’ Yael Ksander and David Wood spoke with two educators to learn more.
Also on the program, one hundred new works of art in seven days — that’s what two Indiana artists set out to paint last week. WFIU’s Mia Partlow caught up with the two outdoor artists on the last day of their project to see what kind of progress they had made.
And, this year’s Lotus World Music & Arts Festival features three acts with local roots, one of which won’t actually be making any music. The Hudsucker Posse combines ballet, jazz and hip hop moves with the hula hoop to create a unique form of dance. Veterans of the Lotus street scene, the group has been given the opportunity this year to take their unconventional brand of entertainment to a formal stage.
