It’s a New Year and things are looking up. The recession seems to be coming to an end. The stock market is slowly recovering and unemployment rate is slowly receding, but it’s been a bumpy road these last couple of years.
People all over have been struggling to find the means to pay for necessities like a place to live, a way to get around, education… you name it. Businesses, too, are having a hard time, and the arts sector is no different.
Back in the fall we talked to some local artists, gallery owners and organizers to try find out how they were being affected and what they were doing to turn things around or just break even. We asked the question, “can the arts act as a stimulus?”
