At every age, and in every era, singing folk songs brings people together. Annie Patterson has found this to be true since the 1988 publishing of her wildly popular songbook Rise Up Singing, with her husband Peter Blood and with support from folk song hero Pete Seeger. Ahead of her visit to Bloomington this week, we sat down to hear her take on the book’s continued popularity with audiences, and why singing together feels especially good now, after so much time apart. Annie performs on Wednesday, October 19th at 7pm at the Bloomington Friends Meetinghouse; more information at Riseupandsing.org. Listen to the conversation above.
