Episode 37 - Discussing Film Criticism
On this week's episode we invite Craig Simpson from the Lilly Library back to the show to discuss the current state of film criticism. We discuss our favorite film critics, how we read criticism, and how we go about critiquing films for the show.
In our opening segment, Andy and Jason discuss their experience seeing X-Men First Class. One of us loved it, the other had some problems. Listen in to see who's who! And Andy didn't have as much time to watch movies this week, but he did play a very cinematic video game with a Noir feel. Jason also updates us on his quest to watch 300 movies in 12 months. Come back every week to see how he's doing.
And since this is Craig's second time on the podcast, it's up to him to list his 5 Favorite Films. He brings in a really interesting list.
After discussing film criticism at length, we take some time to play the Recommendations game. For the uninitiated, this game is when we list a category, and everyone tries to recommend a movie in that category. Feel free to comment on this post with your own categories, or send us a message on Twitter: @iucinemapodcast
