If someone told you that you could take a test to find out if you'd live to be one hundred years old, would you take it?
What kind of test would this be?
Well, there are lots of factors that determine how long a person lives. In this case, however, we are taking a look at the genetics behind extremely long longevity.
This test looks to see if you fit the genetic profile that is common of 77 percent of people who have lived to be over a century old.
One hundred may seem awfully old, but doctors have found that people with this longevity genetic signature often live long and healthy lives. Many live free of the diseases that often come with old age, such as Alzheimer's.
Since the study was published, some scientists have found the longevity tests in need of further research.
