Most of us don't think of Africa as a hub for scientific development.

But fact is, there is a lot of important research being done by African scientists in African facilities, such as the impressive work done at Kenya's Centre for Geographic Medicine Research in Kilifi.

The main problem is gaining local support to fund research projects.

The buzz of reform is in the air, and scientists are excited for what they believe to be a new decade of science on the African continent.
