Blind Drivers Hit the Daytona International Speedway

We have all heard our fair share of road rage, and it is not uncommon to hear flying accusations of visual impairment.

However, the time is almost here when blind or visually impaired drivers will be able to operate a vehicle safely and easily!

Developers hope this car will allow the driver to have as much control as a sighted driver would have over a regular car. Sensors on the car signal the driver using audio directions, vibrating hand gloves, and puffs of air.

A team at Virginia Tech has been working on this project for years, and it's finally ready for a real test-drive, a cruise on the Daytona International Speedway.
