Did you know a 10-month old baby is able to learn words?
Babies typically utter their very first words at around eleven to twelve months. Before that, they make language sounds, but they don't put them together to make words.
However, you can teach a baby to associate a word with an object. Once they do that, when you say the word, they'll look at the object.
This effect works best with objects that have caught the baby's interest prior to introducing the object. For example a plush toy might be easier to use than a wristwatch.
