WTIU Channel Lineups

What will happen to WTIU-Espanol 30.4 (V-Me)

At this time, V-Me has let us know that it will be dropping from the PBS system all together.

V-Me sent WTIU notice that it will terminate its service to PBS stations as of March 31, 2017.

WTIU has been proud to partner with V-Me. Since we launched our multicast service in 2009, WTIU-Espanol has served as a 24x7 channel stream aimed at reaching viewers in underserved/Spanish speaking households. V-Me is currently seeking agreements with cable providers in order to continue their service, independent of PBS stations.

Some PBS series, including children’s programs (The Cat in The Hat Knows A Lot About That!, Dinosaur Train, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, and WordGirl) are available with a Spanish Second Audio Program. When available, viewers can access this SAP feature via their SAP, Audio, or MTS buttons on their remote control, or television’s menu.

Going forward, WTIU-ECHO 30.4 will give viewers the opportunity to time shift the best of PBS’ primetime programming. Most signature series will replay two days after their premiere on WTIU-HD 30.1. Plus, WTIU-ECHO will also offer additional same-day broadcasts of news and public affairs programming.

Social Media Policy/Feedback

Mr Metz handed out the new Social Media Policy that applies to the CAB members. There was discussion that the policy only applies to staff and CAB members if they are representing themselves as being affiliated with the station. At this point, the policy is still in the "draft phase" and members were encouraged to submit their ideas and suggestions.

APTS Recap

On Wednesday, March 1st, Brent, Lynn, Pam and Lloyd Wright of WFYI visited the offices of Senators Donnelly and Young, as well as Representatives Brooks, Bucshon, Messer, Hollingsworth and Rokita.

Lynn Schwartzberg gave us a full recap on the events of the week. She reports that overall the support in DC was very strong for the PBS system and that she felt very positive about the experience.
