From town homes to farmland, commercial buildings to vacation homes, many types of real estate assets can be donated to qualified charitable organizations like ours. You’ll be helping a good cause, enjoying tax benefits and potentially setting up a lifetime stream of income.

There are two major forms of property:

Real Estate
Donating marketable real estate such as a personal residence or vacation home, commercial property, or even vacant land, can be a creative way to make a significant gift to WFIU or WTIU and at the same time receive important tax benefits and even income.  Learn more >>

The benefits may include:

  • A charitable income tax deduction
  • Avoidance of capital gain tax on the property’s appreciation at the time the gift is made
  • Removal of the property from your estate potentially reduces estate taxes and probate costs

Personal Property
Everyone has tangible personal property of some value: works of art, antiques, jewelry, rare books, or other collections (such as coins or stamps, for example). To give such items, you must have held them for more than a year.
