Volunteer support is critical to the success of WFIU and WTIU. We rely on our volunteers at events throughout the year, during our on-air membership campaigns and in our day-to-day business activities. We welcome help from both individuals and groups depending on our needs.
*Please note that our volunteer opportunities are on hold until further notice due to health and safety precautions. We will post any updates here and look forward to welcoming you back to the station soon!
Here are some regular opportunities that we will be needing volunteers for again in the future:
Pledge Phone Volunteer
Volunteer during our radio and television on-air membership campaigns by taking member contributions over the phone. The data is entered in a laptop, so experience with computers is preferred.
Mailing Team Member
Collate, stuff materials, and label envelopes, program guides or packages in our office alongside staff.
Community Group Participation
Civic, social, and high school groups are welcome to participate in our on-air membership campaigns answering phone calls and taking member contributions on a laptop. Usually, we ask a group to provide 4-6 volunteers for a shift. It’s an exciting way to become involved in public radio and television, and a great opportunity for your organization to receive valuable on-air recognition. The minimum age requirement is 16 years.
Production Assistant
Assist the WTIU Producer of On-air Fundraising with miscellaneous duties relating to television production.
Marketing Assistant
Assist the marketing team with editorial and promotional support with publications, print materials, and special events.
Educational Outreach Assistant
Assist station events, mailings, and school outreach activities, including the WTIU Kids Day at the Monroe County Fair and more.
If you have questions, or if you would simply like to be added to our volunteer email list, please send an email to rtvmbr@indiana.edu or call 812-855-6114.
