For just a moment, let me speak about our weekly journey here. This is the perfect time to do so, since PorchLight is created and sustained in this material world with; lucky me, a schedule that just so happens to align with the natural world: ibiz. vid. The seasons.
Much like spring training or spring planting, I’ll be presented with a clean slate and a fresh start right around this time of year. Turns out that the summer solstice happens to fall both annually and contracturally soon after what was our most recently completed episode. Not that I’m actually talking about boots on the ground going forward, so much as our next tentative steps. At any rate, we’re off.
A big part of being passionate is the desire to trace back to the source of it all, the seed that later blossoms. So, in considering, say, The Beatles or The Rolling Stones, depending on your age and how you’re listening, they might be considered either the seed or the blossom, the dripping leaf or the River Nile.
For instance, it may confuse some devoted fans that “Come Together” is the most popular Beatles song on Spotify just like it confuses others that listeners would ever fall deeply in love with a record album.
Our inaugural journey here will involve traveling backwards and then forwards without actually taking a round trip. In the process, discoveries will emerge for each of us. Let’s just figure that whoever and wherever you might find yourself right now, it’s always a great time to be learning.
A few of you listening may have already taken this trip and will realize you were just staring out a window on the other side of the moving train. Pop music, like rose bushes and baseball, is all at once quick to absorb and endlessly fascinating; shallow or deep; too complicated only when we think first rather than feel.
