Monroe County confirmed 28 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, up from 21Tuesday. It’s the most confirmed cases this week so far.
No new deaths were reported, leaving the total at 196, where it’s been since Sept. 29.
The county has been in the yellow advisory for more than two weeks, after a month of being in the higher-spread orange category previously. Its seven-day positivity rate is 4 percent, down from 4.1 percent Tuesday. The county has confirmed 15,064 cases since the pandemic began.
In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, 102 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 Wednesday, up from 99 Tuesday.
Monroe County’s weekly cases per 100,000 are down to 114 from 144 last week.
The Monroe County Community School Corporation reported 18 COVID-19 cases in the district Monday, three of which were not from inside a school building. On Tuesday, seven cases were reported. On Wednesday, five cases were reported.
Indiana
The state recorded 2,773 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, up from 1,630 Tuesday. It’s more than twice Monday’s recorded number.
The Indiana Department of Health confirmed 32 COVID deaths Wednesday, bringing the total since the pandemic began to 15,616. The state has reported 991,460 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.
The state recorded 1,708 Hoosiers hospitalized with COVID-19 Wednesday, down from 1,729 Tuesday.
The state’s seven-day positivity rate Wednesday is 9.1 percent, down from 9.3 percent Monday and Tuesday.
Long-Term Care Facilities
The state reported 126 new positive cases among residents at long-term care facilities this week after 141 last week. On Sept. 29, the state recorded 385 resident cases.
The state’s total number of confirmed cases among residents is 26,031.
Twenty new resident deaths were confirmed this week. Last week 22 deaths were confirmed. The last two weeks’ deaths have been less than half of the 49 confirmed Sept.29.
The total number of resident deaths since the start of the pandemic is 6,496.
