Monroe County confirmed 21 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday and 22 on Tuesday.
On Friday, the state dashboard said 200 COVID-19 deaths had occurred, but this week total confirmed deaths were adjusted back to 199. The Monroe County Health Commissioner, Penny Caudill, said this is either because someone died in Monroe County but was a resident somewhere else, or it was a duplicate report.
No new deaths were confirmed Wednesday.
The county has been in the yellow advisory for more than a month. Its seven-day positivity rate is 3.8 percent Wednesday, which is the same as Tuesday. The county has confirmed 15,361 cases since the pandemic began.
In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, 66 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, down one from Tuesday. It’s the lowest hospitalizations have been since August 11, when they were at 60.
Monroe County’s weekly cases per 100,000 are down to 92 from 111 last week and from 114 two weeks ago.
Indiana
The state recorded 1,471 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday and 2,066 Wednesday. The state has reported 1,014,6653 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.
The Indiana Department of Health confirmed 60 COVID-19 deaths Wednesday, bringing the total to 16,082.
The state recorded 1,324 Hoosiers hospitalized with COVID-19 Tuesday, which is lower than th3 1,349 recorded Tuesday.
The state’s seven-day positivity Wednesday is 7.6 percent.
Long-Term Care Facilities
The state reported 108 new positive cases among residents at long-term care facilities this week after reporting 113 last week on Wednesday and 126 three weeks ago. On Sept. 29, the state recorded 385 resident cases.
The state’s total number of confirmed cases among residents is 26,250.
Fifteen new resident deaths were confirmed this week, and two others were added to the total which were not included in the count of confirmed numbers for this week. Last week, 32 new residents deaths were counted.
The total number of resident deaths since the start of the pandemic is 6,542.
