The Japan National Stadium in Tokyo, where the 2021 Summer Olympics opening and closing ceremonies, as well as track and field events, will be held.

Fourteen current or former Indiana University athletes are set to compete in this summer's Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
The athletes will represent five countries, including the United States, in four different sports.
Swimming
Marwan Elkamash - Class of 2017
Elkamash, from Alexandria, Egypt, will represent Egypt in his second straight Summer Olympics. In 2016, he placed 16th and 24th respectively in the men's 400-meter and 400-meter freestyle events. This summer, he will compete in the 400-meter freestyle event.
Blake Pieroni – Class of 2018
Pieroni, from Valparaiso, Indiana, won gold with Team USA in 2016 as part of the 400-meter freestyle relay. He will compete in his second Olympics this year in the same event.
Bailey Andison - Class of 2019
Andison, from Smiths Falls, Ontario, will represent the Canadian national swim team in Tokyo.
Lilly King - Class of 2019
From Evansville, Indiana, two-time gold medalist King will represent IU and the United States in her second Summer Olympics. King qualified in the 100-meter breaststroke and the 200-meter breaststroke events.
Vini Lanza - Class of 2019
Lanza, from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, will represent Brazil in his first Olympic Games this summer, swimming the 200-meter individual medley event.
Zach Apple – Class of 2019
Apple transferred to IU for his senior season and is originally from Trenton, Ohio. He'll represent Team USA at his first Olympics in the 100-meter freestyle and 400-meter freestyle relay events.
Michael Brinegar – Current IU Student
Brinegar, from Columbus, Indiana, will compete in his first Olympic Games in the 800-meter freestyle and 1,500-meter freestyle events for Team USA.
Tomer Frankel - Current IU Student
Frankel, from Jerusalem, Israel, will represent Israel in his first Summer Olympics. He will compete in the 100-meter butterfly event.
Diving
Mike Hixon – Class of 2018
Hixon will represent the United States and IU at his second Olympic Games this summer. He is originally from Amherst, Massachusetts. In 2016, Hixon and then-partner Sam Dorman clinched the Olympic silver medal in the three-meter synchronized springboard diving event. Hixon will compete in the same event this summer with partner Andrew Capobianco.
Andrew Capobianco – Current IU Student
The other half of Team USA's men's synchronized springboard diving pair, Capobianco, is originally from Holly Springs, North Carolina. He will represent IU and Team USA in the three-meter springboard and three-meter synchronized springboard events.
Jessica Parratto – Class of 2019
Parratto, from Dover, New Hampshire, will represent the United States in her second Olympic Games. In 2016, she placed seventh in the synchronized 10-meter platform event with then-partner and IU alumna Amy Cozad and tenth overall in the individual 10-meter platform event. She will return to the synchronized 10-meter platform event this summer with partner Delaney Schnell.
Women's Soccer
Gabi Rennie - Current IU Student
Rennie, from Christchurch, New Zealand, will represent New Zealand as part of New Zealand's national women's soccer team, also called the Football Ferns.
Women's Water Polo
Shae (Fournier) La Roche - Class of 2014
La Roche, from Winnipeg, Manatoba, will compete as part of the Canadian Senior Women's National Team in Tokyo.
Jessica Gaudreault - Class of 2018
Gaudreault, from Ottawa, Ontario, was named as an alternate for this year's Canadian Senior Women's National Team in Tokyo.
Coaches
IU swim and dive head coaches Drew Johansen and Ray Looze were named to Team USA's Olympic swimming and diving teams. Johansen will serve as an assistant coach, while Looze was named head coach of the U.S. diving team.
