On Monday, Gov.-elect Mike Braun will take the reins from Gov. Eric Holcomb and begin his administration alongside Micah Beckwith, who will serve as lieutenant governor. Braun, Beckwith and Attorney General Todd Rokita, who will be serving a second term, will all be sworn into their respective offices sometime after 11 a.m.
The free and publicly open ceremony will be the culmination of a three-day series of inaugural events — a return to normal after Gov. Eric Holcomb’s socially distanced occasion in January 2021. Braun’s inauguration will be held at the Indianapolis Hilbert Circle Theatre, home to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra with a capacity to seat over 1,600 attendees.
The 11 a.m. oath of office will take place after several other inaugural activities, including a ticketed breakfast on Monday hosted by incoming First Lady Maureen Braun to honor Indiana’s female entrepreneurs.
A Saturday evening gala at the JW Marriott highlights the festivities, with dinner provided to ticketed guests after a VIP and sponsor reception. The devout family will observe Mass on Sunday at Saints Peter & Paul Cathedral in Indianapolis at 10 a.m. Though the church is open to the public, it also hosts a livestream for virtual viewing.
Also on Sunday, the Brauns will have a Hoosier Heritage Family Day at the Indiana State Museum, which will also be free and open to the public — though the transition team urges interested families to RSVP before the event. Activities at the museum, which is in downtown Indianapolis near the Indiana Statehouse, will include activities “for the youngest and the oldest,” according to an events page, such as crafts, a scavenger hunt and story time as well as a chance to meeting Braun.
The events page doesn’t specify a timeframe for museum activities.
