The spooky season is in full swing in Bloomington. These local haunts are offering experiences ranging from not-so-scary to super-spooky, so there’s something for everyone.
The month will conclude with Treats with Greeks from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30 on North David Baker Avenue, as well as the city trick-or-treat on Halloween from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 30
Treats with Greeks, sponsored by the IU Panhellenic Society, will take place from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. on North Eagleson Avenue and David Baker Avenue.
Tuesday, Oct. 31
Bloomington’s Trick-or-Treat time this year is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Hoosiersaurus Rex will host its Spooktoberfest drive-by trick-or-treat from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
The Barn of Terror will have a free kids trick-or-treat from 7-7:45 p.m.
IU Cinema is hosting a double-feature of Renfield and I Saw the Devil/Ang-ma-reul bo-at-da, starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $10.
The Spooktacular Kiwanis Indiana Balloon Fest will be Oct. 26-28 at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. The three-day event will feature a pyrotechnic skydiver, bands, hayrides and more. Admission is $25.
Jellystone Park at Lake Monroe will have several family-friendly Halloween activities on Oct. 14, 21 and 28.
Oliver Winery is hosting several wine tasting and Halloween candy pairing events each weekend in October. This event is 21+ and ticketed, check the website for details.
Tuesday, Oct. 10
The Starlite Drive-in is showing Amityville Horror for free. Gates open at 6:15 p.m. and the movie starts at 7:45 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 12
The Starlite Drive-in is hosting a trunk or treat and double feature of Hotel Transylvania and The Addams Family (2019) with free admission. Gates open at 4:45 p.m. and the show starts at 7:45 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 13
The Buskirk-Chumley will screen Hocus Pocus at 7 p.m., admission $3-5.
Constellation Stage and Screen will host a 10 p.m. showing of Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives at the Waldron Rose Firebay. Admission is $8 in advance and $12 at the door.
There will be anEerie Art Tour from 3:15 - 4:15 p.m. at the Eskenazi Museum of Art.
The Rose Hill Cemetery is hosting Dearly Departed walking tours. There will be a family-friendly tour at 5:30 p.m. and after-dark tours at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Admission is $12.
Cicada Cinema will show Scary Movie at 8 p.m at Hopscotch Coffee., admission is $8.
Sunday, Oct. 15
Switchyard Brewing will host a Halloween-themed Brunch and Brushes from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Prices vary, check the website for additional information.
Friday, Oct. 20
IU Cinema is showingAudition/Ôdishon at 10 p.m., admission is $5.
Saturday, Oct. 21
There will be a pumpkin launch at the Monroe County Fairgrounds starting at noon. Admission is $10 per vehicle.
The Buskirk-Chumley Theater will host its annual Rocky Horror Picture Show There will be two shows this year at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. There will be a pre-show 30 minutes before each showing that will include a costume contest. Tickets are $15 presale and $20 at the door.
Sunday, Oct. 22
Windfall Studio will have a Spooky Soiree for kids, including crafts and movement games, from 1-4 p.m.
Ivy Tech Bloomington is hosting a community Trunk or Treat fundraiser from 5-6 p.m. A $5 donation is suggested and funds will go to student scholarships.
Beacon will host a Halloween Bash at the Woolery Mill from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $75 and all proceeds go to supporting Beacon's anti-poverty mission.
There will be a Trunk or Treat at Comprehensive Financial Consultants from 6:15-7:15 p.m.
Cicada Cinema is hosting a double-feature showing of Basket Case at 7 p.m. and Brain Damage 9. p.m. at the Orbit Room. Admission is $5.
Friday, Oct. 27
Businesses will participate in trick-or-treating downtown from 5-8 p.m. Kids will be able to stop in and get treats from many of the downtown shops.
There will be a free Trunk or Treat and scavenger hunt from 6-8 p.m. at the North Central Church of Christ.
There will be a festival of ghost stories at Bryan Park from 7-8:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Monroe County Public Library and the Bloomington Storytellers Guild.
The Far Side is hosting a house show halloweekend on Friday and Saturday with a costume contest both days. The Friday show will feature bands Graze, Cone and Mycota. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $7.
IU Cinema is showing The Void at 10 p.m., admission is $5.
Saturday, Oct. 28
The Jacob’s School of Music is holding two Halloween concerts, a violin recital from 1-2:30 p.m., and a cello recital from 3:30-5 p.m.
People and Animal Learning Services is hosting Halloween with the Horses from 4-7 p.m. There will be costumed horses, as well as food trucks, pumpkin decorating, trick-or-treating, face painting and a photo booth. Tickets are $7 and children under 3 are free.
