A Bloomington man is accused of forging proof of insurance documents for commercial clients of his lawncare company.
The man, Aaron D. Waltz, is a former Ellettsville reserve police officer and owner of Aaron’s Lawncare. He’s also vice president of operations at Bloomington-based Security Pro 24-7.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Waltz used altered insurance documents to appear as current coverage for his lawncare business. Officials say the forgeries occurred between July 30, 2024, and May 5, 2025.
"Aaron fully acknowledged that he did not have active insurance through First Insurance Group and admitted to manipulating the documents, committing forgery," the affidavit states.
First Insurance Group reported the fraud to Bloomington Police, confirming they never insured Waltz’s business and that he altered expired documents from Security Pro 24-7 to create the forgeries.
Waltz’s business profile lists him as vice president of operations at Security Pro 24-7 since 2017 and a deputy town marshal in Ellettsville since 2010. However, police confirmed he was listed as a reserve deputy and has been removed from the department’s roster following the allegations.
Waltz was arrested and held at Monroe County Jail May 28 before being released on a $2,500 bond. He opted to forgo his initial court hearing, with a pretrial conference now scheduled for July 14.
