Monroe County confirmed 50 new COVID-19 cases Friday, the most recorded this week. On Thursday 17 cases were reported.
The state dashboard added one new death to the county’s total, now at 203.
The county has been in the yellow advisory for nearly two months. Its seven-day positivity rate is up to 4.8 percent Friday from 4.5 percent Thursday. The county has confirmed 15,599 cases since the pandemic began.
In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, 63 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, up from 59 Thursday. Hospitalizations are at their lowest level since the beginning of August.
Monroe County’s weekly cases per 100,000 are up to 121 from 92 last week. It’s the first increase per 100,000 the county has recorded since September.
The state recorded 2,358 new COVID-19 cases Friday. The state has reported 1,030,291 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.
The Indiana Department of Health confirmed 37 COVID-19 deaths Friday. That brings the total to 16,336.
The state recorded 1,269 hospitalizations Friday, down from 1,312 Thursday.
The state’s seven-day positivity rate Friday is 7.6 percent, up from 7.5 percent Thursday.
In Brown County, eight new cases were recorded Friday, and the total since the pandemic began was 1,531. That’s an increase of 64 new confirmed cases since last Friday.
Two new deaths were confirmed in Brown County this week, bringing the total to 49. These are the first deaths confirmed in weeks.
The 7-day positivity rate was 11.4 percent Friday, up from 8.5 percent last Friday.
The county was in the orange ranking on the state map, indicating higher levels of COVID-19. The county’s COVID-19 rate per 100,000 is 212, up from 125 last week.
In Vigo County, 51 new COVID-19 cases were recorded Friday. The total since the pandemic began is 17,867.
The 7-day positivity rate was 7.6 percent, up from 6.7 percent last Friday.
No new deaths were recorded Friday in the county, and the total since the pandemic began was 307, which is two more than last week.
Hospitalizations in District 7, which includes Vigo County, are at 32 this Friday down from 41 last Friday.
Vigo County was ranked yellow on the county map, indicating a lower level of transmission in the area than last week when it was in the orange category. Weekly cases per 100,000 residents were at 177, up from 171.
Lawrence County confirmed 14 new positive cases Friday. The total since the pandemic began is 7,608.
The county’s 7-day positivity rate was 5.9 percent Friday, down from 6.3 percent last Friday.
No new deaths were confirmed in the county Friday. The total number of deaths in Lawrence County since the pandemic began is 178. That’s an increase from 174 last week.
