Gershwin: Let's Call the Whole Thing Off

Everyone knows that whenever you're in a relationship, there are going to have to be compromises made on a constant basis. That's just the nature of things! Sometimes, though, two people can't seem to find a middle ground between their clashing personalities and vast array of different interests and tastes. The Gerswhin brothers played on this idea with the tune "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" for the 1937 movie, Shall We Dance? The movie stars one of Hollywood's greatest dance pairs, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers, and this particular song later became their signature number. The song also became a favorite jazz standard, and most people probably know "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" in the form of this very special version by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.
