When Arthur Fiedler, conductor of the BOSTON POPS ORCHESTRA, commissioned Leroy Anderson to arrange some Harvard songs, he was so impressed with the young composer's work that he named Anderson to the post of principal arranger for the orchestra. This collaboration led to several hit tunes, including the Christmas favorite Sleigh Ride, the Typewriter, and Blue Tango. Anderson's music continues to be performed by many American orchestras, and especially the BOSTON POPS.
