Starting Wednesday, Whole Foods will rate its produce and fresh flowers based upon conservation methods, farm workers' welfare and pesticide use.
Using the rating system Responsibly Grown, produce and flowers will be rated as "good," "better" or "best."
Responsibly Grown is a multifaceted rating system, including soil health, energy use, waste reduction, sustainable and healthy farming practices, water conservation, and sustainable pest management.
Whole Foods has supported this effort by reaffirming the company's commitment to transparency into where food comes from.
