The Brown County Humane Society provides temporary homes to animals, helps with adoption, and  educates the public about keeping animals healthy. The health of the animals is a priority. The BCHS will spay and neuter animals that are in need of the service.

Sue Ann Werling, president of the BCHS, says, “We like to believe that we give them as much healthcare upfront before they go home as we possibly can. That’s one of our missions. It’s a goal.”

The Brown County Humane Society takes in dogs and cats. Some animals come in through Brown County residents and some come in through animal control. They will not turn down a dog or a cat from animal control.

“We do have a 95% save rate at our shelter,” says Werling. “We’ve had that save rate since about 2010, and that’s a very high save rate.”
