Lotus Education and Arts Foundation

The Lotus Education and Arts Foundation provides opportunities for youth and adults to experience other cultures through music and the arts.

Lotus Education and Arts Foundation

When people think of Lotus, they always think of our flagship event, the Lotus Music and Arts Festival that happens every fall, but we have an educational component – Loraine Martin, Outreach Director

The Lotus Education and Arts Foundation provides experiences that celebrate other cultures. Through art and music, The Lotus Foundation provides opportunities for students and adults to connect with other cultures. They do this through programing that includes the Lotus World Music and Arts Festival and Lotus Blossoms.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Lotus World Music and Arts Festival. The event takes place in downtown Bloomington and brings in performers from all over the world. Past guests include Cimarrón, Australia’s Strange Fruit, and Mucca Pazza.

Lotus Blossoms brings performers into schools throughout south-central Indiana. The Lotus Education and Arts Foundation finds performers that are able to teach and perform, and places them in schools. The program provides music and art activities at over 20 schools and reaches approximately 10,000 students a year.

One day a year, the Lotus Education and Arts Foundation hosts the Lotus Blossoms Bazaar. This event provides an opportunity for students to have a multicultural art experience even if their school is unable to host a Lotus Blossoms performance.
