“Parenting is the most difficult and important job anyone is ever going to have…” – Michaela Cisney, Family Support Worker
Monroe County Healthy Families offers support to new parents. Their service allows for parents to meet with support workers. They off advice on topics ranging from recognizing a baby’s needs to advising in financial planning. During a home visit, Monroe County Healthy Families will even help baby-proof your house.
The process begins with a home visit from an assessment worker. Assessments are available before a child is born or up to 90 days following a birth. Then, the Family Support Workers give support to a family for up to a year. They give parents the opportunity to ask questions and improve their ability to parent. “We really just try to minimize stress, maximize the joys of what’s a really exciting time in people’s lives.” says Michaela Cisney, a family support worker.
Monroe County Healthy Families is a service of The Villages. It is a free service and available in many surrounding counties as well.
