It really is good food, nutritious food, and many times, especially with our diabetic clients, it makes all the difference in their health.
-Kathy Romy, Executive Director Meals on Wheels
Bloomington Meals on Wheels provides two healthy meals a day to area seniors and homebound individuals for $6.00 per day. Bloomington Meals on Wheels can cater to people who are diabetic, need low sodium foods, or have other dietary restrictions. Executive Director Kathy Romy says the program allows many seniors and people recovering from injuries to stay in their homes rather than go to nursing homes or rehab facilities. Although the fee for service is much lower than the actual cost of producing the meals, Meals on Wheels realizes the cost can be out of reach for some Bloomington residents and is working to raise funds to provide meals for people on restricted diets who cannot otherwise afford the services.
