The Language Conservancy helps prevent the extinction of languages around the world.

The Language Conservancy

These communities want their languages back…it’s important for young people to know who they are and feel comfortable with who they are.“-Wilhelm Meya, Chief Executive Officer of The Language Conservancy

The Language Conservancy is a non-profit dedicated to the rescuing of the world’s endangered languages. They works with tribes, mostly in the American west. They develop educational material to help teach endangered languages and provide infrastructure, like dictionaries and online dictionaries.

“There are six thousand languages currently spoken in the world,” says Meya. “An estimated %90 of those are expected to become extinct in the next hundred years.”
