The College Mall in Bloomington reopened Saturday, nearly two months after it closed to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
"The health, safety and well-being of the community we serve will always be our highest priority, and we have developed a thorough and detailed set of protocols highlighting the exceptional measures we’ve implemented for shoppers, retailers and employees as we reopen,” College Mall General Manager Heather Little said in a statement.
“We also recognize that individuals and families in our community are suffering significant hardship as a result of both COVID-19 and the economic shutdown, and we believe that reopening our property will not only help people get back to work during these challenging times, but also enable us to use our property to further support charitable initiatives,” Little adds.
The mall instituted a handful of safety protocols to keep shoppers and merchants safe.
Among them will be the strict enforcement of social distancing and capacity limitations in the mall’s stores, along with the closure of play areas.
Hand sanitizer stations will be placed throughout the mall. Masks and sanitizing wipes will be made available to shoppers, and temperature testing stations will be made available at the mall’s office.
The College Mall is implementing the CDC’s handwashing guidelines for shippers and merchants. Mall employees are asked not to show up for work, within 72 hours of displaying COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms.
