Multiple questions have come to City Limits: Coronavirus about how to get tested for COVID-19, including this one: “Where is the OptumServe testing site in Monroe County, and who can be tested at this site?"
The exact location of the site in downtown Bloomington has not been made known because it won’t be taking walk-in patients. You must schedule an appointment, and at that time, you will be told where to go for your test.
The Monroe County testing site was supposed to open by May 14, but some issues prevented that and the opening has been delayed until late this week.
Monroe County Health Administrator Penny Caudill told WFIU's Ethan Burks Monday: “After the delay last week we will wait to announce a day once we feel like they have everything in order. Another delay would be highly unlikely.”
Caudill says people in high-risk groups who are 65 and over with chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or other conditions will be able to test, even if they are not symptomatic.
Also, anyone who has been in close contact with a person testing positive automatically will be eligible for a test.
The daily hours will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
