The CDC issued new guidance and now the agency is recommending when you go out in public you should wear a mask. But there's a shortage of masks and priority is supposed to go to healthcare workers.
So how can you protect yourself, while being mindful of the medical equipment shortage? The surgeon general posted a video showing how easy it can be to make a mask on your own. Indiana Newsdesk's Joe Hren made one on this week's show.
No matter how much you are trying to stay home, you still have to occasionally go out for a run to the drug store or to pick up groceries.
But you don't have to be a seamstress, you can make one yourself out of a bandana or a old t-shirt, a coffee filter, and a couple rubber bands.
You don't need a mask if you're going for a walk or run, it's more for being where other people may be around.
Don't forget, we all have to act as if we have the virus, so the mask is also protecting others. We're not just trying to protect ourselves.
A wash in the laundry after use is fine to wear again the next time.
